THE MONTHLY ECHO #February
Hi All!
Welcome to this month’s echo - a roundup of what’s been on my radar, what I’ve been pondering, and the gems I’ve stumbled across lately. Enjoy!
“The moment one gives close attention to anything, even a blade of grass, it becomes a mysterious, awesome, indescribably magnificent world in itself.”
Henry Miller
PERSONAL NEWS & VENTURES
58g - Celebrating Iconic Tennis Moments On Limited Garments. We just returned from the desert, where we spent the week at Indian Wells, Desert Smash, and the Low Desert Open. All in all, an incredible week. PS. Check out Bar Cecil when in Palm Springs.
TECH & DESIGN
Whisper Flow - I highlighted this a while back, but finally got hooked. A great tool to avoid sore fingers. Say bye to typing.
CATALINA ISLAND #DAY TRIP
For all the LA-based folks who have ever looked out at the ocean and wondered what that island off the coast is like - Catalina is a great day trip, or even a weekend escape. Just about an hour by ferry from the mainland, it feels like a completely different world.
We took the ferry in the morning and spent the day cruising around Avalon by golf cart (the island’s classic way of getting around). There’s great food, beautiful coastal hikes, a small but scenic nine-hole golf course, and even a herd of American bison roaming the island - an unexpected legacy from a 1920s film shoot.
If you want to add a little adrenaline and some incredible views of the Pacific and the LA coastline, take the helicopter back to Long Beach. The flight is only about 15 minutes but worth it. Shoutout to Maverick Helicopters for the ride.

Henry Miller - A Living Literary Legend (Documentary)
An intimate portrait of the controversial writer through the eyes of his peers, who called him “A monch with genitals” - exploring taboo, rebellion, and literary legacy. PS. There’s a section where Miller talks about “Bobo-rōshi” - give it a read.

A short documentary series featuring eleven extraordinary individuals who lost their ability to speak and, through the ElevenLabs Impact Program, are now able to communicate again in their own voices.
